Julia Ghazi, LL.M.
My journey to Baker & Company began in Iran with stops in Canada, England, the United States and now back to Toronto. Along the way, I learned tenacity, to always strive for excellence, and the importance of hard work and continuous learning.
These qualities serve me daily in my legal practice, where my areas of expertise encompass all aspects of corporate law and real estate law.
I grew up in Tehran in a family of entrepreneurs. Women were actively involved, and I was immersed in business culture from a young age. This inspired me to pursue a career as a lawyer with a focus on business law.
My vision was to attain a top-quality education. With that goal in mind, and through hard work and dedication, I was one of the top ranked students to write the very competitive entrance exam to Tehran University, graduating with an LL.B. (Islamic Law). Understanding that my career path would be limited in my homeland, I continued my legal studies at York University and the University of Kent.
Wanting to expand my legal knowledge in the realm of business law, I went on to complete my LL.M. at Osgoode Hall Law School. I also hold Mediation & Negotiation Certificates from the University of Kent as well as a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from Harvard Law School
My experience in alternative dispute resolution allows me to offer clients an extra set of skills to help them reach a satisfactory outcome quickly and efficiently. It has also honed my ability to listen, ask questions, and work collaboratively, strategically, and with sound judgement in all cases.
As my experience in business law grew, I made the decision to expand my skill-set once more to better serve my clients. I am currently pursuing my designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
I enjoy working with corporations as well as individuals. I believe that a long-lasting lawyer / client relationship is built on open communication. I am committed to responding to any and all questions in a timely manner and to making the legal process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
In addition to my legal training, I am fluent in English and Farsi and proficient in Arabic. In my free time, I serve on the board of the Brain Injury Society of Toronto and am a Human Rights Advocate.
I am delighted to have joined Baker & Company. I believe our boutique law firm environment allows me to offer clients superior legal advice and service while empowering me to further my knowledge by working alongside an experienced and dedicated team of lawyers.
